Health Services Program

The Health Services Program is a partnership between BC Housing and the Ministry of Health, Adult Mental Health Division and is staffed by health care professionals called Health Services Coordinators.

Individuals with a mental illness are housed through the program in public housing managed by BC Housing or non-profit societies. Case managers at community mental health teams/centres may refer clients directly to the Health Services Program, when people are ready to live independently in the community.

The program also links tenants to support services in the community, facilitates education sessions for housing providers and provides support to individuals exposed to traumatic events.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be connected with community mental health services
  • Be diagnosed with a mental illness
  • Have clearly demonstrated the ability to live independently
  • Be involved in a constructive activity on a regular basis
  • Agree to keep in regular contact with mental health services provider
  • Agree to accept community support services, if required and available, to maintain a successful tenancy
